1. Origin & History of Name: The genus name Echinopsis stems from the Greek echinos (hedgehog) and opsis (appearance). This cultivar is named after Freyja, the Old Norse goddess associated with beauty and gold, a reference to the plant’s regal coral-pink pigmentation and the "glowing" cream-colored center of its floral throat.
2. Morphology: This hybrid possesses a globose to cylindrical dark-green epidermis with prominent, well-defined costae (ribs). The bloom is actinomorphic (radially symmetrical) and star-shaped, characterized by several concentric layers of lanceolate, pointed petals. These petals transition from a deep coral-pink to a pale, luminous cream at the base, surrounding a dense cluster of reproductive filaments.
3. Habitat & Origin: 'Freyja' is a dedicated cultivar, bred through selective cross-pollination to enhance floral diameter and petal density. It does not occur in nature.
