Origin & History of Name: The cultivar is named after Tyche, the Greek goddess of fortune and prosperity, reflecting the "luck" required in successful cross-pollination to achieve such specific color banding. The genus name Echinopsis combines the Greek echinos (hedgehog) and opsis (appearance), a reference to the spiny, rounded stems characteristic of the group.
2. Morphology: This hybrid possesses a globose to cylindrical epidermis with prominent, symmetrical costae (ribs).
