The name "Lobivia" is itself an anagram of "Bolivia," a nod to the plant family's South American heartland.

The name 'Bloodhair' comes straight from the flower itself: at the heart of each bloom sits a dense tuft of fine, thread-like reddish-brown stamens and style — genuinely resembling strands of blood-red hair against the bright petals. The petals themselves open in a warm orange at the base, intensifying to a vivid magenta-pink at the tips, and this hybrid is a prolific bloomer — capable of producing seven or more flowers open together in a single flush, turning the whole plant into a dense burst of color.
