Toumeya is a small, distinctive cactus native to the arid regions of the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. Often recognised by its compact, rounded to cylindrical body and unusual flattened, papery spines, it has a delicate appearance despite being adapted to harsh desert conditions. Toumeya produces attractive flowers in shades of pink, purple or reddish tones, adding seasonal colour to its otherwise understated form. Its unusual structure and limited natural distribution make it an interesting choice for collectors of rare and lesser-known desert cacti.
