Copiapoa comes from the extremely dry coastal regions of northern Chile, and its appearance reflects that remarkable environment. Many species have rounded or cylindrical bodies, muted colours, and sculptural textures that make them instantly recognisable. Their slow growth and unusual forms have made them especially appreciated by cactus collectors.
