Ferocactus is a genus of barrel-shaped cacti native to the deserts of North America. These plants are recognised for their prominent ribs, strong spines and rounded to cylindrical growth. Depending on the species, the spines may be straight, hooked or brightly coloured, creating much of the genus’s distinctive appearance. Mature plants can also produce attractive flowers, adding seasonal interest to their bold structure.
